Trip Overview

Khopra trek also known as Khopra Ridge trek is one of the best short treks in Nepal. During the trek, you can see a beautiful majestic view of the mountains Dhaulagiri (8,167 m), Nilgiri (7,061 m), Bhara Shikhar (7,647 m), Annapurna I (8,091 m), Machhapuchhre (6,997 m), and many other peaks.

Khopra Trek is located in Annapurna Region. Khopra Danda Trek, also known as Khayer lake trek is a very popular off-the-beaten-path trekking which is in the center of the Annapurna region. This trek is very suitable for those who have a very short period to trek in a quiet place.

Khayer Lake 4,500 meters (14763 feet) is the main destination that is considered sacred as per the Hindu religion. Located just by leap on the Annapurna range a Khayer lake trek is something challenging trek itself, especially in the last part. The ever-smiling face of local people their cultures and the thick rhododendron forest always keeps you very happy during this trek.

Detail Itinerary

Day 1Arrival at Kathmandu

As per your flight schedule, we will pick you up at Tribhuvan International Airport. After that, we will drop you at the hotel and let you rest. We will, however, meet again at welcome dinner and discuss briefly about the itinerary.

Day 2Kathmandu Sightseeing

On this day, you will go sightseeing in Kathmandu. We will suggest some places, so you can choose where you want to go. You will be doing sightseeing at heritage sites in the Kathmandu valley.

Day 3Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (200 km/ 124 miles)

You will start with a scenic drive on a tourist bus early in the morning after breakfast. It takes about 7 hours to reach Pokhara. On the way, you can witness the flowing Trishuli and Marsyangdi rivers, and along with that, Manaslu and Ganesh peaks can be visible. On the same day, we will stop in Pokhara and visit Lakeside before staying overnight in Pokhara.

Day 4Drive from Pokhara to Ghandruk (1,940 m / 6,364ft)

The following morning, after breakfast in Pokhara, we will leave for Ghandruk. Ghandruk is a village of the Gurung community, also known as "Gates to the Himalayas." Pokhara to Ghandruk is about 55 kilometers away and can be reached in 4:30–5:30 hours. The road between Pokhara and Nayapul is blacktopped, and the rest of the road is off-road. The road to Ghandruk goes through the edge of Modi Khola. We will be spending the night at Ghandruk.

Day 5Trek from Ghandruk (1,940 m / 6,364ft) to Bayeli Kharka (3,450m / 11,318ft)

Early in the morning, after breakfast, we will be leaving the picturesque Ghandruk village behind and ascending toward Bayeli kharka. You'll be walking through beautiful rhododendron forests with snowy peaks in the background. The trek offers a lovely view of different mountain peaks, including Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167 m). We will be staying overnight at Bayeli Kharka. Here at Beyeli Kharka, you will get a close-up view of Mt. Himchuli.

Day 6Trek from Bayli Kharka (3,450 m/ 11,318ft) to Khopra Danda (Ridge) (3,660m / 11,811ft)

We will be going through the pastureland on the way to Chistibang, and after this, we will trek for another 2 hours to reach Khopra Danda. We will be heading through the alpine forests and meadows. Throughout the trek, you will be able to view the gorgeous peak of Annapurna South (7219 m). Khopra Ridge offers you a stunning panorama of the Annapurna Mountain range. The Khopra ridge also provides views of Kaligandaki Gorge, the deepest gorge in the world.

Day 7Trek from Khopra Danda (Ridge) (3,660m / 11,811ft) to Swanta (2,214m / 7,874ft)

Bidding goodbye to Khopra Ridge, we have the option to walk to Khayer Lake (4665 m), which will take around 5 hours. Hindus consider this lake holy and believe that you can attain Nirvana by taking a dip in it. After visiting the lake, we will return to Khopra and trek down to reach Swanta village. You can see terraced farmlands and traditional houses along the way, and at Swanta Village, you can taste their cheese because Swanta is a Cheese Factory community.

Day 8Trek from Swanta (2,214 m / 7,874ft) to Ghorepani (2,880m / 9,350ft)

Day 9Early morning hike to Poon Hill (3,210 m / 10,525ft) then trek to Birethanti (1,039m / 3,250ft) -Drive to Pokhara.

Early in the morning, we will hike to Poonhill to view the sunrise over Mt. Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and Mt. Machhapuchre. After catching sight of heavenly sunrise views on humongous mountains and rice terraces, we will return to Ghorepani for breakfast and trek to Birethanti for 2 hours. From Birethanti, we will catch a bus to return to Pokhara via Nayapul. Your trek ends in Pokhara.

Day 10Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu (200 km/ 124 miles)

After breakfast, we will leave the beautiful city of Pokhara early in the morning and head toward Kathmandu. You will have lunch on the way.

Day 11Rest day

Today you will have a rest day. You can choose to have a relaxed day or go shopping. You can also utilize this day to visit the remaining heritage sites in Kathmandu. Night stay in Kathmandu

Day 12Departure

We will be dropping you off at the international airport as per your flight schedule. Before that, we will have breakfast or lunch together as we conclude your trip to Nepal.
