Kathmandu Valley Tour

Trip Overview

The Kathmandu tour shows you a distinctive side of Kathmandu Valley. Besides the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu city, there are a lot of other things that this city had engraved in it. It is the home of hundreds of heritage sites, the Newa settlement, and their culture, tradition, and beliefs.

As mentioned earlier, Kathmandu Valley is the home of heritage Sites. This small area consists of 7 UNESCO World Heritage sites within its perimeter. It includes three ancient cities from the Medival period. The royal palace of Basantapur (Kathmandu), Bhaktapur, and Patan(Lalitpur). Besides them, there are the Pashupatinath temple and Changunarayan temple. Both of these temples are counted among the most prestigious temples in Nepal. And, then, there are two enormous stupas i.e., Swyambhunath, and Bouddhanath.

The Kathmandu tour not only offers these heritage sites for sightseeing. But it also gives you a taste of the rich culture of the Newa people. The city will take you back to the time of the centuries-old Malla era through architectural marvels.

You can also witness the harmony between Buddhism and Hinduism in the city. During your visit, you can notice that people are praying homage to both religious sites with the same beliefs. Thus, sightseeing in Kathmandu is a perfect way of getting in touch with the rich Nepalese history and culture.

You will be visiting all these destinations in Kathmandu. But it is impossible to explore within a day. Thus, we would be visiting the three most close heritage sites of Kathmandu on the first day of the tour. That includes Patan Durbar Square, Kathmandu Durbar Square, and Swyambhunath.

The next day, you will visit Bhaktapur Durbar Square and Changu Narayan Temple. After that, you will visit Baudhhanath and then Pashupatinath temple.

Detail Itinerary

Day 1Arrival at Kathmandu

As per your flight schedule, we will pick you up at Tribhuvan International Airport. After that, we will drop you at the hotel and let you rest. We will, however, reconvene at the welcome dinner to go over the itinerary briefly.

Day 2Sightseeing at Patan Durbar Square, Kathmandu Durbar Square, and Swyambhunath

We would pick you up from your hotel after breakfast today. Then, we would head toward Patan Durbar Square. We would do a half-day of sightseeing over there. We will visit Patan Durbar Square, Mahabauddha Temple, and other important heritage sites. From there, we would head toward Kathmandu's Durbar Square. We would have lunch over there and do sightseeing in the then-royal palace. From there, we would move towards Swyambhunath stupa. It is a great place to observe the entire Kathmandu Valley at a glance. It was also listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1979, along with other sites. We will observe the sunset from here and head toward Bhaktapur for a night's stay.

Day 3Sightseeing at Bhaktapur Durbar Square, and Changu Narayan Temple

On this day, we would go to the Changu Narayan temple first. It is one of Nepal's oldest temples and is located around 1600 meters above sea level. The temple has both historical and religious significance. Thereafter, we would head back to Bhaktapur Nagar. After having breakfast, we will visit four popular squares in Bhaktapur. It includes Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Pottery Square, Taumadhi Square, and Dattatraya Square. After that, we will drop you at the hotel.

Day 4Sightseeing at Pashupatinath and Baudhanath

We would head toward the Bauddhanath Stupa after picking you up at the hotel. We will take lunch over there and visit the site. There are plenty of viharas that you can visit. From there, we would head toward the Pashupatinath temple. Even though non-Hindus are not allowed to enter the main temple, you can catch a glimpse of it from another side. We will then watch the evening aarati from another bank of the temple. The temple area is quite large. Thus, there are other temples and places to see besides the main temple.

Day 5Sightseeing at Bungamati, Kakani and Pharping

Today, you would go on an excursion to Bungamati, Kakani, and Pharping. Bungamati and Kakani are both historical Kathmandu towns, as are Bhaktapur and Patan. These towns are pretty famous for preserving the ethnic culture and traditions of the Newa people. Likewise, Pharping is a place to which almost all the meditators aspire to go and do some meditation. After visiting these places, we will drop you off at the hotel.

Day 6Departure

We will be dropping you off at the international airport as per your flight schedule. Before that, we will have breakfast or lunch together as we conclude your trip to Nepal.
