Pikey Peak is the best trek the lower Solukhumbu can offer in the Everest Region. Pikey Peak, on the other hand, is said to be the best place to get a glimpse of Mount Everest. But, in the clear weather. If you happen to have gone trekking in monsoon, there is very little chance for you to get a glimpse of any Himalayas at all.

No matter in which season you go there, you will not be disappointed while trekking. The green lands and the scent of different types of Rhododendrons will be there to accompany you.

It is an easy and short trek. You can finish it within 5-7 days, considering how you wanna explore the trail. The days are counted after the trek starts from Kathmandu until you return to Kathmandu. It’s best to trek in the spring, fall, and winter seasons in Pikey Peak.

Detail Itinerary

Day 1Arrival at Kathmandu

As per your flight schedule, we will come to the Tribhuvan International Airport to pick you up. After meeting with you, we would transfer you to your hotel and pick you up late for the welcome dinner. There, we will also do a briefing about the trek and city sightseeing. You will spend the night in Kathmandu. Although it’s a trekking package, we suggest you do some city sightseeing before. It’ll help you learn about the nation, its culture, and its people.

Day 2Kathmandu Sightseeing

Today, we will pick you up at the hotel and go to the Budhdanilkantha Temple. It’s one of the most prestigious pilgrimages in Nepal. It’ll give you a little insight into the Sanatan Dharma. After that, we will head back to the hotel for breakfast. After that, we will go to Swyambhunath Stupa, Patan Durbar Square, and Basantapur Durbar Square. All of these sites are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and this gives you some insights into the Buddhism and history of Nepal, respectively. You will spend another night in Kathmandu. During the sightseeing, you can do some shopping for the preparation of the trek.

Day 3Kathmandu to Dhapbazaar

Your journey toward Pikey Peak starts today. But you won’t be walking. We will end our bus ride to Dhapbazaar from Kathmandu. It will take about 7 hours to get there. You will be spending your night at Dhapbazaar.

Day 4Dhapbazaar to Japre

Your journey officially begins today. You will start your journey after having some breakfast. After walking for 4-5 hours, you will reach your destination for today, Japre village. It’s a small village, but you can walk around and visit some monasteries to spend your time. You will be spending your night in Japre.

Day 5Japre to Pikey Peak Base Camp

Today you will reach the base camp of Pikey Peak. After walking for 5–6 hours from Japre, you will reach the city. But the journey of this day will be as spectacular as the destination itself. You will be crossing through the Bhulbule and the forests of rhododendrons. And the best part is that you will encounter tons of different types of rhododendrons. It’ll be a colorful trail. You will be spending your night at Pikey Peak Base Camp.

Day 6Pikey Peak Exploration and trek to Jase Bhanjyang

This is the day when you finally climb Pikey Peak. It is said that you can get glimpses of six Himalayan ranges from there. Try it and see if you can identify the Himalayas. You can spend some time over there before hiking back to Jase Bhanjyang. It will approximately take 4-5 hours to reach there. You will be spending your night at Jase Bhanjyang.

Day 7Jase Bhanjyang to Junbesi

Today, you will take a leisurely walk from Jase Bhanjyang to Junbesi. It will approximately take 5-6 hours of walking. During your walk, you will pass through small villages and meadows. You can also visit local monasteries at Junbesi once you get there. You will be spending your night at Junbesi.

Day 8Junbesi to Phalpu

This is the last day of your trek; thus, you would be walking for 5–6 hours. You can take the hike lightly and enjoy every step of it. You will be spending your night at Phalpu.

Day 9Phalpu to Kathmandu (Nagarkot)

This is going to be a long bus ride since it’ll take approximately 8 hours to reach Kathmandu from Phalpu. You will bid farewell to the Everest region and continue your journey toward Kathmandu. By Kathmandu, you will be spending your night at Nagarkot, one of the best viewpoints of the Kathmandu Valley.

Day 10Bhaktapur Sightseeing

Even if you missed the sunset view from Nagarkot, you can still enjoy the sunrise view from your hotel. The sunrise view from Nagarkot is said to be the best one. Thus, after having breakfast, you will visit Nagarkot, Changu Narayan temple, and then Bhaktapur Durbar Square. Besides Nagarkot, both the Changu Narayan temple and Bhaktapur Durbar Square are listed on the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. You will get new exposure to the local inhabitants of the Kathmandu Valley over here. You will be spending your night at Bhaktapur.

Day 11Departure

This will be your last day in Nepal if you are satisfied with your trek and want to return home. But, before departing, we will visit the Bauddhanath Stupa in Kathmandu. We will spend some time over there. We might have a last lunch or a cup of coffee together over there. From there, we will drop you off at the airport as per your flight schedule.
