Trip Overview

Kathmandu valley trek usually has a lot of options. Kathmandu offers Balthali trek, Sundarijal Nagarkot trekking, likewise, the Dhulikhel and Chisapani trek. They are all short and easy treks commencing a few kilometres from the north of Kathmandu.

Along with the valley, this trek would pass you through Sundarijal and then east to Nagarkot via Chisopani. Early morning we drive to the trailhead at Sundarijal and gradually walk uphill to Chisopani with great views of the mountains like Annapurna and Langtang mountain ranges.

Sundarijal Chisapani trekking trial offers the best selection and highlights of Sundarijal, Chisapani and Nagarkot trekking. The trekkers come in contact with temperate forests and you can observe the daily life and culture of village people.

Nagarkot is the ultimate destination of this delightful trek from where there are superb views of the Himalayas, especially at sunrise and sunset. It is an ideal trip for those who have little time but would like to make a short trekking trip around the rim of the Kathmandu Valley.

Detail Itinerary

Day 1Drive to Sundarijal (1350m) and start trek to Chisopani (2140m)

It takes around an hour to enter the Shivapuri Watershed and Wildlife Reserve from Kathmandu. The trail continues uphill from Kathmandu and passes through the jungle to meet the Mulkharka Villages of Tamang people. The trail continues to ascend through a grove of rhododendrons and oaks after passing the Borlang Bhanjyang trail, then descends to Chisopani (2140m), where the mountain vistas are spectacular, with views of Annapurna and Everest visible from here. Overnight at Chisapani.

Day 2Chisopani trekking to Nagarkot ( 2170m)

After breakfast, we continue our journey to Nagarkot on a mostly flat downhill trail. The hike takes you between the settlement and the forest, with spectacular views of the countryside and the mountains. Nagarkot is a hill resort where we can see Mt. Everest, Manaslu, Gauri Shankar, Dorje Lhakpa, and other mountains. Night stay at Nagarkot.

Day 3Nagarkot trekking to Dhulikhel (1700m)

We get up early to watch the sunrise above the snow-capped Himalayan peaks. The first rays of the sun paint the Himalayas a pale red, from Kanchenjunga and Everest in the far east to Annapurna and Dhaulagiri in the west. After breakfast, we'll make our way down to the historic Newari village of Dhulikhel, where we'll spend the night.

Day 4 Dhulikhel trekking to Namo Buddha (1982m.) and then driving back to Kathmandu.

After breakfast drive to After breakfast at Dhulikhel, we walk to the Namo Buddha (1982m), situated on a hill above Panauti. It takes about three hours to reach Dhulikhel. There is an amazing legend related to the Buddha, which is commemorated by an ancient stone slab and a stupa with the all-seeing eyes of Lord Buddha. Later, we drive to Kathmandu.
