Gosaikunda trek

Langtang Region

Trip Overview

Most Nepalese take this Gosaikunda trek as a pilgrimage. This journey up through pine forests where red pandas reside to the Hindu holy lakes of Gosainkunda is the most popular add-on to a Langtang Valley trek and a beautiful short trek in its own right.

Although you don’t come face to face with the high mountains, you do get great vistas of the Langtang and Ganesh ranges, as well as traversing the frequently snowbound and difficult Laurebina La. (4,610 m).

There are other approaches to Gosainkunda, but it’s advisable to start with the Langtang Valley trip to acclimate. Then, from near the Doman teahouses, cut across to Gosainkunda and return to Kathmandu via the Helambu Circuit.

Some people travel directly from Dhunche to Gosainkunda, but the elevation gain is significant, and altitude sickness is common. Walking from Helambu to Gosainkunda is a hard uphill slog that promotes altitude difficulties.

Detail Itinerary

Day 1Arrival at Kathmandu

As per your flight schedule, we will pick you up at Tribhuvan International Airport. After that, we will drop you at the hotel and let you rest. We will, however, reconvene at the welcome dinner to go over the itinerary briefly.

Day 2Kathmandu Sightseeing

On this day, you will go sightseeing in Kathmandu. We will suggest some places, so you can choose where you want to go. You will be doing sightseeing at heritage sites in the Kathmandu valley.

Day 3Drive from Kathmandu to Dhunche (2,030m/6,660ft)

This is the first day of our Gosaikunda Trek. Thus, we would take a bus to Dhunche from Kathmandu, where you could enjoy the gorgeous communities and meadows along the road. It would take around 5-6 hours to reach Dhunche over a lovely, picturesque route and along the massive Trishuli river. Night stay at Dhunche

Day 4Dhunche to Singha Gompa

Today, we will begin our trek from Dhunche and ascend towards Singha Gompa. After around 2 hours of hiking, we would arrive at Deurali (2,500 m), a little settlement on the road to Singha Gompa. After 3 hours of hiking on a lovely track that passes through streamlets and cascades, we will arrive at Dhimsa (2,900 m). The climb from Dhimsa is slightly challenging, as the trail ascends through lovely pine trees. To reach Singha Gompa (3,200 m), a village in the midst of a pine forest, we must trek severe uphill stretches. The town of Singha Gompa, also known as Chandanwari has a lot to offer to its visitors. Chandanwari's main attractions include a Yak cheese plant and a monastery. Night stay at Singha Gompa

Day 5Singha Gompa to Gosaikunda

Although today would be a more difficult day than yesterday, the satisfaction of reaching Gosaikunda would be immense. We'll walk uphill to Gosaikunda after a full breakfast in Singha Gompa (4,361 m). From the start, the trail progressively ascends. And we will hike all the way to Gosaikunda on a rough and narrow trail. There, we would be passing Cholangpaty, Lauribinayak, Sakyamuni Temple, and then Saraswati Kunda, followed by Bhairav Kunda and the mighty Lake Gosaikunda. Stay the night in the Gosaikunda area.

Day 6Gosaikunda to Dhunche

After admiring the gorgeous morning and having breakfast, we'll visit Gosaikunda before returning to Dhunche. We'll be hiking downhill while admiring the enticing vistas of mountains, pine forests, and flavorful cheese. Because we'll be descending, hiking will be a little easier and more enjoyable. We will also see several protected birds along the trail, such as the Wood Snipe, Snow Partridge, Tibetan Snowcock, and so on. It would take around 7-8 hours to reach Dhunche. Dhunche hotel for the night

Day 7Back to Kathmandu

We would be returning back to Kathmandu via the same route and enjoying the very same things on our way back. Stay in Kathmandu for one night.

Day 8Rest Day

Today you will have a rest day. You can choose to have a relaxed day or go shopping. You can also use this day to visit the remaining heritage sites in Kathmandu. Night stay in Kathmandu

Day 9Departure

We will be dropping you off at the international airport as per your flight schedule. Before that, we will have breakfast or lunch together as we conclude your trip to Nepal.
