Thimi
Thimi is one of the ancient newar settlements based on Bhaktapur. It is more famous for the vermilion festival (Sindoor Jatra) which occurs annually on the second day of the Nepalese New Year and tongue-piercing festival. With that, it has huge numbers of temples and ponds.
It is quite similar to the Bhaktapur Nagara. Because it also has the alleys picking up their way up to main roads, typical Newari architecture, the pottery squares and the original taste of Newa inhabitants. There are still people who are continuing their ancestral jobs like farming and pottery. The city is practically a cultural beauty.
Thimi is settled in between Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur. Perhaps, that’s why it is called Madhyapur.
