A Memorable Trip to Sailung, Kalinchowk and Dolakha Bhimsen Temple ( 1 Night 2 Days)

Embarking on a journey is always exciting, but doing so with a group of enthusiastic first-year law students from Khwopa College made it even more special. Our recent tour to Kalinchowk was not just a travel experience but a blend of adventure, bonding, and breathtaking landscapes.

The Journey Begins

Our day started early, as we gathered around 6:00 AM, having a light breakfast before boarding the bus. With energy and excitement in the air, we set off towards our first stop—Sailung. The drive was filled with musics, conversations, laughter, and scenic views that kept our spirits high.

By 10 AM, we reached Mude, where we had a delicious and fulfilling lunch. The local flavors energized us for the rest of the journey. After a short break, we continued our drive towards Sailung, eager to experience its beauty firsthand.

Exploring Sailung

Upon reaching Sailung, we began our walk, starting with the newly built Chinese-style staircase (Great Wall). The excitement was evident as students took pictures and videos, capturing every moment of the scenic surroundings. The steps led us to a mesmerizing view of rolling hills—this was the essence of Sailung. The place derives its name from the hundred hills that come together to form this breathtaking landscape.

As we climbed the first hill, we were rewarded with an even more stunning panorama hills. At the top, a stupa and a viewing tower stood gracefully, inviting us to witness the beauty from an even higher perspective. Though the climb was tiring, we knew we had come too far to merely observe from a distance. Determined, we pushed ourselves to reach the top, and the effort was well worth it.

The students were thrilled by the views, their laughter and excitement making the experience even more memorable. Every moment spent at Sailung felt like a reward, a reminder of the natural beauty Nepal has to offer.

A Twist in the Journey

As we headed back to the bus, we planned to visit the Mahadev temple by taking a shortcut. However, we ended up on the wrong path, which delayed our journey by an hour. Yet, this unexpected detour turned into an adventurous hike through an unknown jungle route, making the experience even more thrilling. Eventually, we reached our bus, had a light tea snack, and continued our journey toward Kalinchowk via Mude.

The road to Kalinchowk was steep and under construction, making the ride both exciting and challenging. Finally, we arrived at Kalinchowk around 7 PM and checked into our hotel. The moment we stepped out, we were overwhelmed with joy to see snow covering the ground, adding to the cold but beautiful atmosphere. Meanwhile, the students had already gathered around a campfire, singing and dancing to the rhythm of music, making the evening lively and unforgettable.

At 8 PM, dinner was served at the hotel. Afterward, we stepped outside to enjoy the serene evening ambiance of Kuri village. Although the cold limited our exploration, we took some beautiful pictures with the snow before heading back to our rooms for a well-deserved rest after the tiresome journey. The extreme cold had even frozen the running water, making it difficult to touch, but we managed with limited hot water service.

The Kalinchowk Temple Hike

The next morning, all students were requested to wake up at 5 AM for the early morning hike to Kalinchowk Bhagwati Temple. The climb was a one-hour steep uphill trek, and as we ascended, we encountered even more snow, making the hike both challenging and enjoyable. Some students took for the cable car service, but the majority chose to hike, embracing the adventure. Reaching the top was incredibly rewarding as we were greeted by the majestic view of the Himalayas and the sacred Hindu temple standing gracefully at the summit.

We took numerous pictures, immersing ourselves in the breathtaking scenery and enjoying the peaceful yet powerful aura of the temple. As time passed, we knew it was time to return. Some students descended via the cable car, while others enjoyed the trek back down.

Wrapping Up the Journey

After returning to the hotel, we had a late breakfast and checked out around 11 AM. Our next stop was Dolakha Bhimsen Temple, where we paid homage and spent some peaceful moments before continuing our journey.

From there, we traveled to Sukute Beach for lunch. By the time we arrived, it was already 4 PM. The change in weather was remarkable—we transitioned from the freezing cold of Kalinchowk to the warm and breezy atmosphere of Sukute Beach. After lunch, we took some time to relax by the riverside, enjoying the soothing sounds of the flowing water.

Finally, we resumed our journey back to Bhaktapur. Along the way, some students were dropped off at their respective homes, and by 7:30 PM, we reached our final stop—Khwopa College—bringing our incredible 1-night, 2-day tour to an end.

A Journey to Remember

This tour was more than just a travel experience—it was a journey filled with adventure, unexpected surprises, and unforgettable memories. From hiking through unknown jungle trails to witnessing the breathtaking Himalayan views at Kalinchowk, every moment was worth cherishing. Traveling with a group of enthusiastic students made the experience even more special, reinforcing the idea that journeys are not just about destinations, but about the people and stories that make them extraordinary.
